Fast forward twelve years, and Beth is now an almost-happily-married stay-at-home mom with a five-year-old daughter, Stacy. SEIZED BY LOVE Melissa Foster @Melissa_Foster #Bookreview & #Giveaway @BrookCottageBks

Seized By Love (Love In Bloom; The Ryders, #1)Seized By Love by Melissa Foster
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Seized by Love is a hot romance and is part of a new spin off series from Melissa Fosters Love in Bloom books. Here we meet Blue from the Ryder family and the lady who stole his heart Lizzie Barber.

The book is set in Cape Cod, USA. Blue is a craftsman who works locally and is refurbishing Lizzie’s kitchen. He’s been asking her out on a date for a year but she keeps turning him down. Blue is from a large family with brothers and a sister, they have strong family values and are a great loving family.

Lizzie runs her own flower shop and takes care of the expenses so that her sister can go to college. Lizzie had to support herself through college when her Dad became sick and she found a lucrative side job which helped her out. During the day Lizzie delivers cakes to the homeless and puts flowers on unattended graves. She’s a very warm hearted and caring person.

Twice a week Lizzie films a solo webcast show which she’s made profitable. The Naked Baker is Lizzie’s secret.

Tired of fighting her attraction to Blue, Lizzie agrees to go out with him. The chemistry is perfect and the romance is hot. Blue wears his heart on his sleeve and is very open with Lizzie about his feelings. But Lizzie struggles with her secret and not sharing it with Blue makes her feel guilty.

This book is all about love and trust and people’s personal hang-ups with preconceived ideas. For readers of Melissa’s romance books you know what to expect from the romantic formulas and family loyalties which dominate the themes. However this book may stretch personal preferences a little when it comes to accepting some of the sexual scenes.

Everything about the feisty little brunette, from her tight bod to her seductive smile, cuts straight to his heart. Seaside Dreams – My Thoughts:

Bella Abbascia, a thirty year old teacher, makes a seemingly rash decision that goes against almost everything she represents as stable Mable in her circle of friends; she quits her job of five years, puts her house in the market and follows her dreams to Seaside, where she spent her summers growing up. Bella has a plan, and falling head over heels for sexy, single father and police officer Caden Grant, was definitely not in those plans.

Bella and Caden meet in a hilarious opening scene that had me doubling over with laughter and set the pace and the mood of the book perfectly.

Caden has not dated seriously since Evan’s mother left, and Foster nails his nervous and unpracticed reactions to the sizzling heat between him and Bella perfectly leaving you laughing out loud and giggling a few times…and then swooning and wishing you could go on a not-a-date with the hunky Caden. (I totally dig my husband as well now)

I love that he has a son, and it gave their story a unique angle and showed a side to both Caden and Bella that you might not have gotten to know otherwise.

Between the beautiful scenery descriptions and the wonderful, close knit Seaside community, you really just wish you were there and a part of their inner circle – I’m packing my bags!

Heartfelt, happy ending that left me signing with content and excited about the rest of the Seaside Summers series…so much love for them!

“You’ll fall so hard for me you’ll be wishing you met me ten years ago…” Foster just gets it right every time.

Good Deeds Challenge, Year 2 week 24

Welcome to my second Year of Good Deeds, a challenge I set myself during April 2013. I decided to do at least one Good Deed a day for a whole year, now I an into my second year.

New Good DeedsDuring my week I’ll also being updating you on My Kindness Challenge which I’m also doing. I read about a new challenge to make the world a better place to live in. “Speak Kind Words, Receive Kind Echoes” see the inspiration on  The Kindness blog . During my learning process I’m donating money to charity for my slip-ups to make me work harder to achieve results. I earn no money from any of my book reviews, so having little to spare should focus my mind.

September 28th – A busy day, drafting blog posts full of book reviews, and liaising authors with readers. Wrapped presents and sent thank you cards to other people. Plus fitted in a couple of driving practice sessions for my daughter and her friend who are learning to drive.

September 29th – Back at school this morning, last Monday the school had a day off, but I’m back with my readers today. Took some old shoes to the school for a re-cycling collection that they are having for this years Harvest festival.

September 30th – It’s the last day of Romancing September, I can’t believe it’s all over for another year, although we’ve got people interested in next years tour already I believe.

Have just walked into town, it’s a beautiful sunny afternoon, picked up loads of litter on my route. Now for some reading.

October 1st – The need arose to walk to town again, and once again I was on litter patrol, making small steps towards tidying the place I live in and making it  a better place for others to enjoy.

October 2nd – A morning visiting my Aunt and Uncle whom I haven’t seen for a couple of years, where does the time go? Another Christmas arrives and we swop cards saying we must see each other more often. Well I was determined to visit before another Christmas arrived. I went bearing gifts of delicacies to have with coffee and books for their new young Grandchildren. We carefully trod around the estranged family subjects and put the world to rights promising to stay in touch.

October 3rd – My first book review post for Brook Cottage Books goes out today as part of a book tour, Seaside Dreams by Melissa Foster

October 4th – A visit to our Aunt in the lovely Cotswold’s today. Helped her with her new lap-top and her latest toy, her ipad (She’s 85) Just needed to do a few tweaks and get the kids to show her a few tricks on the ipad and she was off again, buzzing with what she’ll do next. Helped her with lunch and the clearing up. She is such an inspiration I want to be as with-it as she is when I’m her age.

Seaside Dreams (Love in Bloom, #21; Seaside Summers, #1)Seaside Dreams by Melissa Foster

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This review is on behalf of BrookCottage Books. It is #21 in the Love In Bloom Series and #1 of the Seaside Summers series.

Bella Abbadscia is one of the seaside cottage residents of Wellfleet, near Cape Cod. For as long as she can remember she has spent every summer here with her best friends who include, Amy, Jenna and Leanne. Weeks spent in the sun, beside the pool or at the beach, with BBQ’s and nights under the stars, a great way to spend some chill time with friends.

Caden Grant is a single Dad, a cop and he’s just moved to the Wellfleet area from Boston. Having recently lost his work partner he felt he needed to take himself away from the dangers of police work so that he would always be there for his son Evan.

Caden first sets eyes on Bella when he’s on night patrol and comes across several scantily dressed females at the cottages in the middle of a prank. There is an instant spark between them, which neither is prepared for. Bella has sworn herself off men to concentrate on setting up a work-study youth program, whilst Caden’s devotion is to his son and no one else.

I enjoyed the build up of their relationship, the not-a-date was fun and Caden’s son Evan brought a new aspect to the storyline. There was some great advice on the upbringing of teenagers which many parents could do with, but it added to the story rather than deflecting away from it. With a hot man in a uniform who brings out the feminine side in Bella and the back drop of some summer love, what is there not to love about this book?

Good Deeds Challenge Year 2 Week 23

September 21st – Today my son and my Dad share a birthday. It made my Dad’s day when my tiny baby hung on for a few minutes longer and then rushed out to share his day with his Granddad. Funnily though my Dad always reckoned he’d play second best from then on, and try as I might, it’s always a last minute rush to either buy or deliver my Dad’s birthday gift while all the time I’m really organised with my son’s gifts. We are off out to tea with the other Granny and Uncle. Will take around a book I have just finished reading. We That Are Left by Juliet Greenwood, a fantastic book written around WWI and the strength of the women who were left to survive in England while the men went off to war.

September 22nd – Have got together with a couple of my girl friends to keep us all positive and to stop us all worrying ourselves to death about our kids and the future (Think 3 women heading towards the menopause) The Hormones go berserk and we find ourselves freaking out about all sorts of strange things. So we’ve got together for a little girl power and I’m shouting the loudest about having treats and “me time” and being busy with other things. So this week I’ve challenge us all to find out how to cook a dish of “pulled Pork” and to go out and get the ingredients and try out a recipe.

Last night I read “Baby Girl, Book 1 : The Beginning by Elle Klass. At just 38 pages I soon had it read and will write up the review in a few moments. My next book will be Going Pecans by Gina Henning

September 23rd – Having a chat with BrookCottage Books about helping out with some chicklit book reviews. Checking proofs for the October editions of the local magazines I write book reviews for. My copy and pasting skills were appalling this month and I have apologised to the editor about my mistakes which need changing in the proof.

September 24th – Organised a couple of my book review team to help out with reviews for the BrookCottage team. Make that 6 of my team, thanks for volunteering everyone. Blogging friend Diane Coto has been helping point me in the right direction towards some new to me authors for the mystery book tour.

In my endeavour to try out something new in my life, I got all the ingredients together for pulled pork. Found a recipe and away I went, well those who know me better, know I tend to wing a recipe when I don’t actually want to use all the list of recommended ingredients, so keen to get on, I forgot how long it would take to defrost my joint of pork. Then found it was larger that the recipe recommended. Marinaded  it for 30 minutes, covered in foil and bunged it in the oven at 2.30pm. Recipe said a slow cook for upto 5 hours. At 7pm it was still raw in the middle, at 9pm it was nearly cooked but no where near the pulled look. At 10.30 I went to bed, switched off the oven leaving the pork in the heat.

September 25th -Pulled pork continued: Got up at 6am, the oven and pork were still just warm and my pork was just about pulled. Not sure it’s the runaway success I planned. Will serve it up for tea tonight and see what the family think.

Just had a lovely book morning chatting over a coffee with fellow writer Alison Williams. Can’t go anywhere without recommending a book these days and added a few more to Alison’s TBR pile. Good Deeds received, drinks were on Alison, thank you.

September 26th – Went to the local market and bought homemade jams as a gift for my husband’s aunt. Been really busy on the blog writing up lots of post drafts. Reading Romancing My Love by Melissa Foster

September 27th – Helped a man at the Supermarket this morning.

Have bought a copy of “Why Does My Book Not Sell?” by Rayne Hall, I’m sure it will be as good as her last one “Twitter for Writers” which I keep recommending to people. I shall be reading and reviewing it in due course.

Today I’m reading Seaside Dreams by Melissa Foster.
