Witch Crystal, The Adventure BeginsWitch Crystal, The Adventure Begins by Malika Gandhi

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Witch Crystal is a paranormal fantasy suitable for the young adult market. The book opens with a woman and child fleeing from the Empire witches of Zrotaz and taking a shuttle to Earth.

Several years later the child Larissa is now fifteen years old, she knows little of her past, however she does know she is a witch herself. When the Empire witches try to capture Larissa, her mother finally explains why Larissa is so important. A prophecy has foretold that she will be the one to save the witches from evil. But first she has a quest to repair the holes in the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)

Larissa is aided by a crystal and many other witches and magical folk, whilst others who are commanded by the High witch try to stop her. Friends back on Zrotaz are also working to stop the High witch and they face their own trials.

The quest will continue in the second book.

Good Deeds Challenge, Year 2 Week 43

Welcome to my second Year of Good Deeds, a challenge I set myself during April 2013. I decided to do at least one Good Deed a day for a whole year, now I am into my second year.

New Good DeedsThis week I’ve been doing the following;

February 8th – Today I’m reading an ARC of Operation Unit by Phil Syron-Jones, a second book in his John Steel action thriller series. If you like a James Bond style storyline then check out his first book Rise Of A Phoenix. Sorting out pictures for this weeks book review tweets. Also drafting up some of my posts for this years April A-Z Challenge.

February 9th – My morning helping out at school, and then picked up a bag of potatoes at the local farm for my friend and dropped them off.

February 10th – Delivered a box of donations for the charity shop which have been sat by my door for too long.

February 11th – Invited a friend around for coffee, had a lovely chat and sent her away with a book. Good deeds received, was gifted a lovely cake.

February 12th – Met a friend in town and passed on a book. Good deeds received had my hot chocolate bought for me – delicious!

February 13th – Finished reading The Orchid Tree by Siobhan Daiko a book set in Hong Kong during an after the occupation by the Japanese during WWII.

February 14th – Lots of romance and Valentine books to tweet about today. Also getting lots of books in for the review team. Today I’m reading Witch Crystal by Malika Gandhi
