Italian Millionnaire: Runaway Princepessa is a romance set in west coast America. At only 180 pages, I read this easily in one afternoon.
Peter Medici is a dark and brooding Italian millionaire. He is also a neuro-surgeon with high hopes for a prominent seat at the next medical board elections. Whilst voting takes place, he can’t afford a scandal created by his personal life, which his wife of five years, Ellie, is currently set to create.
Ellie is fed up with being Peter’s trophy wife and sex object, neglected whilst Peter works long hours. She feels there is little substance to their marriage and she has lost her own identity. Peter finds her working as a waitress in a bar after running away from their luxury lifestyle. He strikes a deal; play the good wife for three more weeks, then he’ll give her a divorce. But what is it they both truly want? For Ellie, will three weeks be enough to change Peter into the loving husband and family man she yearns for? Can Peter prove to Ellie that she is the only one for him? How far is he willing to go?
The story is fast paced, with plenty of sexual fantasies and tantalising encounters for the couple between brief sections of plot substance. I really liked the idea of the story, but thought it deserved fleshing out allowing the reader to get to know the characters better, perhaps by weaving in lots more emotion and creating more tension for each of them; I felt the story itself needed to be longer than just a novella. It’s a good read for a couple of hours of sexy, romantic escapism.
