The Kingdom of Magic by Jack Sperring

The Kingdom of MagicThe Kingdom of Magic by Jack Sperring

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Kingdom of Magic is a fantasy book. Three teenagers are thrown back in time when they discover a hidden room whilst escaping gate crashers at their own party. They travel to a world full of magic where they are given their own magical powers and are led on many adventures in an attempt to stop the mad King and a Dark Wizard. They perform enormous feats of heroism and the reader is left with tantalising hints as to their next adventure in the second book in the series which is due to be published later in 2013.

The Book of Deacon by Joseph Lallo

The Book of Deacon (The Book of Deacon, #1)The Book of Deacon by Joseph Lallo

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For me the first part of the book was grey and sad with a world at war, I didn’t connect to the characters of the war and the book nearly lost me until the arrival of Wizards, then the story took off, the fantasy world created became colourful and bright, full of potential and expectation. I didn’t want to see the end when our heroine heads back to the other grey world, but I half expected it. Am tempted to read the rest of the trilogy.
