Let Mercy Come (Corpus Brides, #3)Let Mercy Come by Zee Monodee

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Let Mercy Come is book three of the Corpus Brides Trilogy. They are romantic suspense books set in Europe and I do believe you need to read them all in order to get the most from them.

Anastasiya ran away from the secret agency and is believed to be the head of the failed mutiny. Scott has been sent to track her down and bring her in. However when he finds her his feelings are re-kindled. But it’s the discovery that she left to protect her baby and not because she had any part in the mutiny which helps his decision to help her and not turn her over to the boss.

They make a new life as Vanessa and James Mather, until the head of Corpus finds them and makes a shocking announcement. With a new role to play and a hunt for a murderer there are many twists, turns and revelations. Just who can you trust? Who will go to lengths to betray you? And who will have the strongest desire to live in the end?

I’ve read this series in stages with many books in between and I did struggle to catch up with some of the characters, however it is still a good storyline with strong characters in some lovely settings.

Romancing September author Candace Knoebel (Day 22)

It’s Day 22 on the Romancing September Across the World Tour and our gust author today is Candace Knoebel. Meet her here and then join her once more over with Stephanie to discus writing romance in today’s society.

CandaceLet’s find out more about Candace and her book “Embracing the Flames”.

1) Where is your home town?
 – My home town is Davenport, Florida. There’s nothing too exciting about it lol.
2) How long have you been writing?
 – I have been writing avidly since 2009, but I have always written since I was little. I used to write a lot of poetry and journal entries.
3) Have you always written romance?
 – No. Actually, all three of my current novels are categorized as YA Fantasy. They have elements of romance, but not full romance.
4) “Embracing Flames” has a “Hot!” cover, who designed it?
 – Thank you! I love it! Ravven is responsible for both covers. You can find her here: http://www.ravven.com/.
5) Book 2 of the “Born in Flames” Trilogy, this is fantasy/romance, where did the original idea for the plot come from?
 – It came from my love of dragons and mythology and sort of spiralled into what it is now.
6) Aurora is part-dragon, does that mean she can fly? Or does she breathe fire?
 – She does both actually. She can also see at long distances, sense things before they happen, and command fire around her.
7) I have a feeling that there will be some “Flaming” love scenes, can you drop any hints?
 – There is a part where Fenn and Aurora decide to take their relationship to the next level. This is when things change. Never before had they encountered this because they were always ‘just friends’, but now that they have acknowledged their feelings, their relationship goes to the next level. This is where you see the spicier side of Fenn.
8) How has writing a second book in a trilogy been? How did you decide what parts of book one to re-tell if any?
 – Writing the second was fun because I was able to explore more of the magical realm and of her powers and their relationship now that things have been established. I tried to only bring up parts of book one that were needed to be a reminder to the reader who may have forgotten certain details.
9) Can this book be read as a stand alone novel? Or will there be a cliff hanger ending to entice us towards the next book?
 – There is a definite cliff hanger. None of the three books in the trilogy should be read as a stand alone as they all tie into one another. Each book was written  with planned foreshadowing that would come to light in the next book.
10) When can fans expect the third book in the trilogy to be available?
From the Embers will be available this winter if all goes well. I am very excited!
Thank you so much!15993071

The Book of Deacon by Joseph Lallo

The Book of Deacon (The Book of Deacon, #1)The Book of Deacon by Joseph Lallo

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For me the first part of the book was grey and sad with a world at war, I didn’t connect to the characters of the war and the book nearly lost me until the arrival of Wizards, then the story took off, the fantasy world created became colourful and bright, full of potential and expectation. I didn’t want to see the end when our heroine heads back to the other grey world, but I half expected it. Am tempted to read the rest of the trilogy.

Land of the Unaltered cover release

Today I’m posting about a cover release for Leti Del Mar and her new book “Land of the Unaltered”. This book is due for release on June 18th.

LandOfUnalteredFINAL (med)

Here is the pre-release synopsis to wet your appetite;

Rose comes from the capital of the Confederation of Cities where its  citizens live in luxury and the greatest fashion statement of all is  being Altered.  People change everything about the way they look as  often as they do their hairstyle but Rose is different.  Her position of privilege has made her an outcast and led her to suspect that something sinister is happening to the citizens and flees the capital along with a past that imprisons her in search of a fresh start in the Land of the  Unaltered.

Flynn lives in the Land of the Unaltered and hates the capitol and everything it stands for.  So when a spoiled capital girl is assigned to work with him, he wants nothing to do with her and is prepared to make her life  miserable.  But Flynn was not prepared for someone like Rose.  She  doesn’t fit the mould he expected and finds himself strongly attracted to her.  As she continues to surprise and outwit him, they begin to forge a bond that is tested when they discover a secret that could change  everything they know about Land of the Unaltered.

Land of the Unaltered is a Dystopian Romance and is the first instalment of the Unaltered Trilogy.

Almost Perfect by Julie Ortolon

Almost Perfect (Perfect Trilogy, #1)Almost Perfect by Julie Ortolon

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Excellent romance/ chick lit book with an added touch of self-help notes taken from a book written by a friend of the characters. It dinged a memory of a Saturday morning kids TV show that was hilarious call something like “Camp run-a-muck”. Not that the kids camp in this book was anything like the slap stick comedy I remember, but it triggered a happy memory. The book is full of characters with great promise for the other books in the trilogy.
