Today’s book review has been brought to you by a young book reviewer please join me in welcoming Bethany to the blog. ‘The Luxe’ by Anna Godbersen Rated 5 out of 5 stars This historical romance follows the New York Society Jems in the summer of 1899. It is full to the brim with glamorous parties, flowing gowns, prestigious beaux and best of all, scandalous romance. The book stars four girls and observes how their lives become increasingly interconnected through romance, revenge and secrecy. Anna Godbersen’s ability to take you back in time is ever present; I loved her use of letters at the beginning of each chapter to develop the story and reflect the time period. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Luxe-Anna-Godbersen/dp/0141323361/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1373278077&sr=1-1&keywords=the+luxe+anna+godbersen

As a very young child, I remember seeing this book on my mother’s bookshelf. The exotic authors name and the title promised a great story within the covers, however I remember being so disappointed that the book was for adults and had no pictures! How could anyone read a book without pictures? Now as an adult I’ve read the book and conjured my own pictures in my mind of Kashmir and the people. It tells of one woman’s desire to live amongst the local people and how she struggled to fit in and be accepted.
