#RomancingSeptember Day 20 Love Always by @SonyaLoveday & @CandaceKnoebel

Welcome to Day 20 of #RomancingSeptember

2015 cover

Our guests today are writing duo Sonya Loveday and Candace Knoebel and their book Love Always.

Love Always

Where is your home town?

Sonya Loveday lives in St. Cloud, Florida and Candace Knoebel lives in Davenport, Florida – both located in Central Florida where it’s practically summer all year long. Both wish for cooler climates and are known to seek the solace of their air conditioners and an icy cold beverage.

How long have you been writing romance?

Love Always, is Candace Knoebel’s first dip into the contemporary romance pool, as where I’ve been writing in the romance genre for a little over a year now.

What is your favourite sub-genre of romance?

Candace is known to lean towards coming of age. Angsty and edgy books lure her in more than anything. Throw in a good plot line and you have her on the edge of her seat. To date, that I can remember the most vividly, one of her ‘could not put it down’ moments was the last book of the Divergent series, Insurgent. That one took her days to get over. Not quite romance, but the fallout of her emotions was what authors can only hope to inspire! Plus…who doesn’t lurve Four?!?!

I’d have to say coming of age stories/new adult/rom-com would have to be some of my favorites. But I do love a good historical romance too…Outlander. Need I say more?

Where is your book set?

Love Always, starts out in The Hamptons, New York and then changes as the story moves forward, taking you along both Maggie and Phillip’s journey throughout the book. You’ll see New York, California and then you’ll see ports of call in the Bahamas.

Introduce us to the characters.

Phillip Andrews Warrington is your not-so-typical son of a business mogul. All of Phillip’s life he’s been groomed to step up into the business world by his influential father and interfering mother. Never having a say in what he wants, Phillip’s world gets spun on its axis when he meets Maggie. It’s then that he realizes there’s so much more to life than what he’s been raised to believe.

Magdeline Rosalie Fairchild, know as Maggie, is a modern day gypsy sailing through life as only a spirted fun-loving child of the water can. With a kind heart and a gentle soul, Maggie sees life as an adventure worth putting everything she has into it. She lives fully, loves deeply, and never backs down from what she wants.

How are their backgrounds different?

You take the girl who grew up simple and encouraged, and the boy who grew up lavishly and was repressed, and you have your in-a-nutshell differences. Each has something the other can teach them. Each has a different way of looking at life. Maggie was raised in a small fishing town and, after her mother died, the neighbours stepped in to help her father out. Phillip was raised by various nannies who weren’t allowed to be too much fun. He was bred to be responsible, giving, and pliant.

What was the best bit about writing a book together?

I would say the entire novel. We literally had talked about writing one together for years, but one night at Sonya’s kitchen table, we decided now was the time. We’re so in tune to each other that writing was a piece of cake. We’d write a chapter, send it back to the other, and then wait for them to write theirs and send it back. It took, overall, a little less than two months. Plus, who wouldn’t want to work side-by-side with their best friend?

What were the hardships of co-writing a book?

If I had to pick one (because there really weren’t any) I’d have to say just finding patience to wait for the next chapter to be written by the other, only because we each didn’t always discuss what would happen next, so it’s like waiting for all the other kids to wake up on Christmas morning so you can finally open your presents. 🙂

Tell us what you are working on at the moment.

I’m working on Everdeep (Night Watchmen, #4), and Sonya is working on an untitled project which will be the fourth in the Six Series. In between that, we’re trying to promote Love Always, and we’re getting ready for our edits to come back. So… it’s a full plate.

Romancing September #RomancingSeptember – Day 2

rosie1

Welcome to Day 2 of Romancing September Across The World Tour. Today our guest is Sonya Loveday. Catch up with more from Sonya in a few hours with the second part of our tour when Stephanie chats to her.

The Summer I Fell

Where is your home town?

I was born in Presque Isle, Maine. I lived there for 10 years until we moved to Chicopee, Massachusetts for a brief 15 month period. St. Cloud, Florida is where I’ve spent the majority of my life.

How long have you been writing romance?

The Summer I Fell is the first NA/Contemporary romance that I’ve written to date. My other books are considered paranormal romance.

What is your favourite sub-genre of romance?

Honestly I don’t have a ‘favorite’ because there are so many great sub-genre’s out there!

Tell us about Riley’s childhood

A good majority of Riley’s life it’s just her and her dad. It’s a good thing her dad is so awesome and an even better thing that she has the Six. (Group of six friends)

When does Riley declare her feelings for Ace?

You don’t have to wait too long into the book to see things happening between Riley and Ace. When you start reading The Summer I Fell, your plopped right in the middle of Riley’s life hours after graduation. The feelings and friendships are right there- as if you’d walked up and sat down beside her on the tailgate of her truck.

Give us a hint about why Riley’s plans had to change.

Her financial aide falls through and now it’s up to her to decide what she’s going to do about it.

Tell us about some of the life changes that happen to Riley.

She’s forced to face the reality that growing up is not all it’s cracked up to be. Friendships can survive over time and distance. There are just some things that are out of your hands and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.

Tell us about the 6 rowdy boys Riley grew up with, are they now 6 sexy men?

Oh boy…the Six! These guys are awesome! The beginning of the book you get to ‘meet’ all the guys as they interact with Riley. They’re funny, sexy and just a little crazy.

Tell us what you are working on at the moment.

I’ve started the second book in The Six Series. Jared’s book will pick up when he leaves Alabama and will intertwine (partially) with Riley and Ace’s story.

First I Love You by Genevieve Dewey

First I Love YouOne part Godfather, two parts Emma and a dash of Casablanca mixed together, “First, I Love You” isn’t a detective novel, a gangster novel, a mystery, a romance or a family saga. It’s a little of all of the above.

Imagine being a detective with a mobster for a father, or a mobster with a  straight arrow, good cop for a son. This is a relationship that is  tricky on its best day. Add in some well-meaning meddling from a mob  princess sister, an arrogant DEA agent, and gangsters running a human  trafficking ring and you have a recipe for a book that refuses to follow the rules. Told from the perspective and point of view of each the six  main characters this is the first novel in a trilogy about love,  loyalty, revenge and redemption.

Omaha Detective Tommy Gates has  kept his gangster father at arm’s length his whole life. Mickey Downey  has spent the better part of the last two decades trying to find ways to get back the son he lost through Witness Protection. Now Tommy has  taken an opportunity to work on a Federal Human Trafficking Joint Task  Force in Chicago where his father lives. Tommy’s sister Kiki and his  mother Mary see this as an opportunity to build a relationship between  the two. Tommy’s new DEA partner James Hoffman sees it as an opportunity to gain leverage over Mickey Downey. Tommy’s other partner, FBI Agent  Ginny Sommers wants to keep Tommy’s family as far from the case as  possible. When Kiki and James join forces, sparks fly and it sets fire  to a maelstrom of unexpected consequences for everyone involved.

Deer in the Headlights by Staci Hart

Deer in the Headlights

Sweary, Sexy 18+ Romance

How do the Greek gods kill time? Because they’re always bored. It’s an  unavoidable downside of being alive for thousands of years. So, they  play games. Games with human players. Remember Shakespeare? Yeah, that  was Apollo. Bonnie and Clyde? Aphrodite vs Ares.

It’s Aphrodite’s  turn once again in the rounds of competitions, and she’ll defend her  domain: Love. She hasn’t lost a competition on her turf in over three  millennia, and she’s not about to start now. Apollo is her first  competitor, and he’s on a mission to win. If he wins, he’ll get a token; a favor that Aphrodite must fulfill. And with that favor, he’ll finally get the one woman he’s never been able to have.

Aphrodite and  Apollo will choose their human players, and if Aphrodite can’t get them  together before the clock runs out, Apollo will get his way. And she  couldn’t have that.

Lex and Dean are perfect for each other. They just don’t know it yet.

Dean is a perpetual bachelor, and a man-whore. A brooding, gorgeous, rock  star man-whore. Lex always has a boyfriend, but she’s never let anyone  in enough to let herself go. Not really. Not ever. Aphrodite has her  work cut out for her, but if she can’t make it work, no one can.

But she has more at stake than just Lex and Dean. Apollo killed her mortal  love, and that beef has been dragging on for thousands of years. Ares,  the douchebag, is forever trying to start a fight, and get Aphrodite  into bed. And Persephone, her best friend, is the one person she can  confide in, laugh with, and always count on for a healthy helping of  bacon when she’s having a bad day.

Follow the gods as they fight, laugh, cry, lose love, and gain power. Making a mess with humans has never been so fun.

Snake in the Grass by Staci Hart

Snake in the GrassIt’s Round Two of high stakes Love Connection on Olympus, and this time, everything has changed. For Aphrodite, at least.

Ares is on deck, and Aphrodite is nervous. As much as she loves to hook up  with him, she doesn’t trust him as far as she could throw him, which  isn’t very far. He’s a big dude. They haven’t been together in a very  long time, but she can’t resist him. She never could. Even when every  part of her screamed that he was a liar.

Ares has a plan to keep  Aphrodite, for good this time. He wants to win the game, but he’ll hold  back to get what he wants. He’s sitting on a chance that he’s been  waiting thousands of years for, and he’ll do what he has to do to  convince her to stay forever.

The only thing that could stop him  is the secret that he’s been keeping from her for eons. If she finds  out, it will destroy everything.

Kat and Dillon have been through a lot, and everything has been to protect their younger siblings. They  have sacrificed everything to make sure their brother and sister are  safe. The players are tough and loyal. Fierce and determined. But they  become each other’s weakness, even though they fight it, and even though it means danger for Kat and her sister.

If Aphrodite can get the  players over their egos and issues long enough to see that they’re meant for each other, the competition will be a piece of cake. One that  she’ll eat a la mode, right in front of Ares, if she beats him.

Romancing September – author Sonya Loveday (Day 21)

Day 21 of the Romancing September Across the World Tour, today our guest is Sonya Loveday (What better name could you have for a romance author?) Meet Sonya here and then in a few hours catch up with her again as she talks about writing romance in today’s society with Stephanie over in Georgia USA.

Sonya Loveday

Let’s go and find out more about Sonya;

1) Where is your hometown?

I currently reside in Central Florida in a ‘small’ town called St. Cloud. I was born in Presque Isle, Maine and wish for the weather they have. Florida heat is brutal in the summer.

2) How long have you been writing?

I’ve been actively writing since 2009. I started writing Casted along side of another book that is written but not finished, if that makes sense. I picked Casted back up around April 2012 and completed it.

3) Have you always written romance?

I’ve always had some sort of romance that goes along with the storyline. Since Casted is officially my first published novel I guess you could say yes.

4) Your book cover is gorgeous! What made you chose purple?

Thank you! Ravven is ahhhhmazing! I gave her a brief description of what I wanted the cover to look like and then handed the creative controls over to her. I actually had a choice between blue or purple. Now, besides the fact that purple is my favourite colour, I also associate purple with magic. The choice was, at that point, a no brainer. She totally rocked it out and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome!

5) Ooh Magic! Tell us about the background of the spell book in your story.

Ah, the ancient spell book…

The book itself belonged to Elinor. It was, back then, a way to record her spells. It also became her prison for hundreds of years.

6) Can Jade do magic? Is she a witch or a spell caster? What would you call her?

Poor Jade, she’s had a pretty hard life. Both her parents were killed when she was a young girl. Her bloodline-so to speak-is split between the Original Coven and the Triad. Jade finds out the hard way just how powerful of a spell caster she is as things heat up for her.

7) Who are the Triad? Whom do they represent?

When the Original Coven was formed a select few were unhappy with the restraints put upon them. They broke off from the Original Coven and called themselves The Triad. Their goal was to take out the Original coven and gain full control of all magic users. Those who were sought out by the Triad had one choice, join or die.

8) You’ve woven a complicated love interest into the tale, can we expect some sparks?

But of course! With magic, there’s always sparks!

9) What can we expect from Elinor?

She’s pretty intense. Being trapped in a book will do that to you. Her main objective is to eliminate the Triad. Her focus is set on Lorenzo, the Triad leader. She will force her will on Jade to see the end of the evil that caused so much grief in her life.

10) This is the first book in “The Casted” series, have you a title for the second book? When do you expect it to be available for fans?

For now, I’m using the working title “Spelled”, not sure if that will stick since I’m only a few chapters in to the actual writing. It has a huge possibility of changing. I’m looking at the end of the year to have it completed.

On a side note…if you’ve read Casted, I left you with a huge cliff hanger that will jump right into the next book. I will also take the time to apologize now, knowing you will be shouting at me and your books/e-readers with the next one. You’ve been warned. *Insert evil laugh here*
