Rise Sister Rise: A Guide to Unleashing the Wise, Wild Woman WithinRise Sister Rise: A Guide to Unleashing the Wise, Wild Woman Within by Rebecca Campbell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Four Point Five Stars

Rise Sister Rise is a non-fiction guide for those ready for change in their life circumstances, whether at a crossroads in life, a desire to stand up and be heard, or a need to follow a dream.

Rebecca Campbell firmly believes we are at a crucial point in our world development, ending thousands of years of oppression and darkness caused by religion and power hungry world leaders. Our planet is dying under current human abuse; people are lost, hurt and angry.

This book is “a call to arms for women to rise up, tell their truth and lead using their innate powers and wisdom.”

They can do this through the support systems and strengths of sisterhood. There have always been wise women, healers, medicine women, priestesses and visionaries. Campbell sees women all over the world awakening to what has been locked and hidden away inside them. Courageous, encouraging, passionate, compassionate, confident, self-assured, radiant women.

In this new high speed electronic world, we have forgotten to listen to the planet we inhabit, to work with its seasons and the cycles of the waxing and waning moon. Each season of the year has different components; spring is full of new life and energy, winter is for sleep, rest and recuperation. But many of us try to live our whole year at high-speed with maximum energy output and it is unhealthy for us, we fill up with stimulants and are constantly exhausted.

Campbell suggests remembering what makes us women, celebrating the strengths being a women brings and getting back our passion to change things in our worlds for the better.

This isn’t a book just about feminism, it is about reclaiming ourselves and saving the world.

Book Description

Rise Sister Rise is for the women who agreed at soul level to be here at this stage in history to lead this global shift that the mystics of all of the ages have predicted: the return of the mother and the rise of the feminine. It is essentially a call to arms for women to rise up, tell their truth, and lead.
Most women have spent much of their working lives “making it” in a man’s world, leaning on patriarchal methods of survival in order to succeed, dulling down their intuition, and ignoring the fierce power of their feminine. They have ignored the cycles of the feminine in order to survive in a patriarchal linear system – but now the world has changed.

Rise Sister Rise is a transmission that calls the innate feminine wisdom to rise. It is about healing the insecurities, the fears, and the inherited patterns that stop women trusting the Shakti (power) and wisdom (intuition) that effortlessly flows through them. It’s about recognizing all of the ways we have been keeping ourselves contained and restrained in effort to fit into a certain archetype of woman. It’s about co-creating a whole new archetype of woman – a woman who does not keep herself small in order to make others feel more comfortable. A woman who knows like she knows like she knows that she is not her body weight, her sexual partners, or her career. A woman who deeply respects the wise woman in her life and cultivates her own wisdom every single day.

Full of tools, calls to action, contemplative questions, rituals, and confrontational exercises, this book teaches women that it is safe to let Shakti rise, safe to trust their intuition, and safe to take leaps of faith – because in healing ourselves we are healing the world.

Assertiveness For Earth Angels by Doreen Virtue #Bookreview #SundayBlogShare

Assertiveness for Earth Angels: How to Be Loving Instead of Assertiveness for Earth Angels: How to Be Loving Instead of “Too Nice” by Doreen Virtue
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Assertiveness For Earth Angels is a self-help book about spirituality. I’ve recently come across the works of this author and this is the first book I’ve read from her.

Doreen classifies an Earth Angel as someone that is highly sensitive who has been sent to Earth on a particular mission to defuse and reduce conflict. Linking with the belief of human re-incarnation where we return to Earth multiple times to work through past personal conflicts, Doreen believes Earth Angels have their own special instructions. However because of their highly sensitive nature they can often be knocked off path by people they try to rescue, such as drama queens. addicts and energy drainers.

Earth Angels are likely to be obsessed with other people’s happiness, are “Conflict-phobic”, will shoulder other people’s burdens and rarely ask for help. But if they are to achieve their Earth-bound goals then they must learn to protect themselves and learn to be loving without being a pushover.

I enjoyed many of the chapters which encouraged me to look deeply at my own life. Some were of less interest as I felt I had no contact with the people and situations it described, but it is all useful for the future.

Banish the Blues NOW is a fast and easy-to-read overview on overcoming depression without medication. The book’s author, Catherine Carrigan, has been freed from psychiatric medication for twenty-two years. In addition, to explaining her own story of a nervous breakdown and hospitalization, she has researched and compiled key elements on natural alternatives for healing depression.

Catherine’s book doubles as a reflective journal in which the reader exams food and drink consumption, thought patterns, emotions, energy levels, thyroid disorders, drug side effects, amino acids, food allergies, cortisol levels, flower essences, and more. Most of all Catherine makes the connection between happiness and having a purpose in life.

I recommend Banish the Blues NOW for anyone who wants to find wholesome ways to drive away depression.

My Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

I am the first to congratulate anyone who can turn their health and wellbeing around using natural healing, so I was excited to read Banish the Blues, by an author who has lived through depression and been clear of medication for 22 years.

The author knows her subject matter and has taken great care and attention to detail when collating the information and advice for this book.

Banish the Blues, is set out as five ‘books’ divided into short chapters. In the introduction, Carrigan explains her personal story and the journey to recovery that she began many years ago. It is written from the heart, and anyone who has been touched by depression will be able to resonate with her words.

The advice from the author is straight forward and clearly laid out. I did like the section about flower essences and will look into this more for my own health and wellbeing. There is a lengthy (23 pages) bibliography at the back of the book as an abundant resource for further reading.

Unfortunately, it felt more like a directory than a self-help book, and I would have liked the author to have gone much deeper into each area. She began with her personal journey, and I was hoping for more of an explanation of her specific experience and how she transferred her lessons to real-life events. The endless pages of symptom lists became slightly monotonous for me. Although there is plenty of useful information for the reader to take away from this title, it didn’t quite deliver what I had hoped for.

How I Changed My Life In A Year by Shelley Wilson

How I Changed My Life in a YearHow I Changed My Life in a Year by Shelley Wilson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was my September treat, after the long school holidays I always deserve a treat and I do love a book that motivates me. The book title appealed to me straight away and I loved the cover with the post-it notes.

Shelley writes in a fun and amusing way and the book goes through her 12 resolutions to change her life for the better with some great lessons along the way. Shelley set herself monthly challenges and within those weekly smaller conquests. I liked the idea of a visions board of things you want to do, I know the idea isn’t new but I’ve only ever tried it once and I lost the enthusiasm.

Month 6, “Adopt better habits”, was one of my favourites, I already do a lot of re-cycling, but I had a bag of items for the charity shop which had been sitting by the back door and not actually going anywhere. After reading about Shelley’s month 6 I got off my backside, filled another bag with books and put both in my car. Then I planned my next day with a slot to visit the charity shop to drop off my bags. Coming home to empty spaces felt good.

I also enjoyed the challenge to wear bright clothes and not anything black. I took one look at the clothes I was getting ready for the cooler months and realised they were mostly black. Feeling incredibly brave I took to the shops to find some colourful new clothes, I bought jumpers and shirts, but trying to find trousers I like which aren’t jeans, skinny or black is proving harder.

This book brought a smile to my face and a list of ways I want to improve my own life, I’ll finish with a quote from the book “Dream it, Live it, Become it.”

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was scrolling through the list of books that were free on Kindle and this book popped up. I’m really glad it did because I do have an interest in making things balance. I read all sorts of self help books, gathering inspiration and support for my life.

This was a simple easy read, full of good advice, web sites to follow up research with and positive ways to improve the feel of your life. Everyone has times in their life when they feel really good, I’m happiest with my books. Other times are harder, dealing with any form of salesman makes me shudder. In both of these situations we have our own vibrations, which vary with our feelings.

The idea behind the book is to recognise the feelings when we are happy and raise feelings of the harder moments in our lives to match, to have a positive effect on out lives. Reading this book left me all happy, warm and fuzzy.

Wake up Millionaire by Patric Chan

Wake Up MillionaireWake Up Millionaire by Patric Chan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I downloaded this book a while ago, and forgot about it until recently. A suitable style of Self-help/advice book to read at the end of a year when people often reflect on their year and set themselves some goals for next year. Wake up Millionaire looks at ways of re-training your mind to think differently and change your monetary opportunities and ultimately your income. Patric tells you about how he changed his life and where he thinks future opportunities lie for people to make money. It revolves around the internet, your networking abilities, your attitude, gratitude and your ability to enjoy what you have. I found a lot of the book helpful, some of it a little daunting and much of it reinforcement of messages from other people’s writing, so perhaps I am already on the right path for my life. Do read this book if you want to be inspired to make changes in your own life for the better.

Angelic Wisdom Trilogy by Richard Holmes

Angelic Wisdom TrilogyAngelic Wisdom Trilogy by Richard Holmes

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An amazing book which looks at your spiritual path through an easy to read format. There are question and answer sections between the author and his guiding Angels, which is very informative and full of a mix of easy to understand and more complex theories. Richard is a medium and on his own path of discovery. I liked the idea that if you are reading this book then you must have been drawn to it as part of your own life path. There were parts of the lessons from the books that made me feel a very young novice on my own life path. It gives answers and guides you to ask more questions about why you are here on earth and what you are trying to attain whilst here. Life certainly is all about what you make it.

Intuition and Psychic Ability by Jennifer O’Neill

intuition and psychic ability by Jennifer O’Neill

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a free download in a subject that interests me. I’d would love to be able to say I had psychic powers, the closest I get is a bit of intuition. However it’s nice to be able to read up on ways that this can even be honed. I really enjoyed the chapters on Empaths and how children can be affected. Also the energy vampire chapters were really useful. I learnt that you can’t force people to change their ways, they must want to change themselves. Some very useful points to note when dealing with family members that I wish I could help, but who definitely drain my energy with little progress. I will definitely read more by this author.
