Karen chose to read and review Girl in the Red Pajamas by Chris Birdy.

My Opinion

This book leads the readers back to Bogie McGruder. This time, he has to deal with family issues like relationships, beliefs and misunderstood children. I will not tell you more about the story than shown in the Goodreads plot description. This would spoil the fun of reading this book yourself.

With The Girl in Red Pajamas, Chris Birdy has once again created a mystery that is thrilling and funny at the same time. The Girl in Red Pajamas comprises believable yet pretty special characters, most of them are likeable – even adorable. I had a great time reading – this is a very entertaining and fun read. I was drawn into the story right away, glad to be an invisible part of everything.

This is for you if you like a slightly nerdy and thrilling mystery with humorous streaks, food for thought (e.g. about fanaticism).

A book and/or trilogy to read over and over again.

Highly recommended!

Today our guest is Chris Birdy and her book Girl in the Red Pajamas

Girl In The Red Pajamas

The Girl in Red Pajamas begins when two lesbians have a smack down in a Boston restaurant. After one is found dead stuffed in the back of the other’s SUV, their families line up and point fingers. Tensions mount as relatives question religious beliefs, and the police gather evidence to build a case against the survivor. Bogie McGruder becomes deeply involved in the investigation because one woman is his sister and the other, his old girlfriend. This third book in the Pajamas Trilogy brings the series to a glorious end.

Where is your home town?

I live outside Boston, Massachusetts.  I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a steel town that depended on industry for survival.

What do you like about writing in the mystery genre?

I write the in the mystery genre because that’s what I enjoy and read.  Since I was trained in math and science, I like the balance that mysteries bring.
What sub-genre of mystery does your book fit?
The Girl in Red Pajamas falls into the suspense category.  Shortly after the story opens, the reader knows who the killer is.  The question is:  will the killer be caught, how?
Where is your book set?
The book is set in Boston and Palm Beach.
Can you introduce us to the main characters?
Bogie McGruder is the main character and not his daughter Isabella as some might expect.  Bogie is an investigator, a hacker and former Army intelligence.  Bogie suffered through a brutal childhood and is determined to provide his wife and children with a safe and comfortable life.  Anyone who gets in his way is doomed.
