This week I have returned to my own garden as I join in with the Six On Saturday gardening meme.
The flowers are beginning to take off and it is exciting when you have several options to choose from each week.
My Tulips have been quite late this year, but lovely when they opened. I don’t know their names, but I do know that I want to buy more for next Spring. Tulips photos one and three surround a picture of part of the Bluebell bed which is now in full flower.
Photo four is of one of the Anemones which the slugs and snails have been munching on this year. They were dining while I was away which hasn’t helped. Photo five is of some dwarf Iris, inherited from a relative and the last photo is of the Lilac which is putting on a good show this year.

The week began with a couple of frosty nights which nipped at some of my plants that I had transfered to the greenhouse. We had sun and rain to add to the mix. A typical Spring week perhaps? The bumblebees are buzzing, the birds are nesting and I saw a large yellow butterfly on Tuesday.
Let’s take a look at this week’s six.
Photo one is of some of the ‘White Magic’ Muscari. I always find white flowers hard to get in focus when photographing.
Picture two shows the Japanese Quince just coming into flower.
Photo three is of some ‘Green’ Alkanet with its blue flowers! I must keep an eye on this as I believe is is fast growing.
Photo four shows the pretty flowers of Comfrey, almost ready to bloom. I’m keeping this in a pot to stop it spreading too much, and I hope to use it to make some liquid fertiliser.
The fifth photo is of some lovely Forget-Me-Nots.
Finally, if you look closely, the Lilac is coming into bud. It looks much better in real life, the photo doesn’t show it at its best.

As March blew out with some strong winds, will April be full of Spring showers?
I have a very mixed bunch of items for you this week.
First photo goes to these Glistening Inkcaps which have popped up in a corner of the garden. The top left one in the corner of the photo has been nibbled by slugs and I think it looks like an alien.
Second photo is of the wildlife pond that we are working on. I am very excited about it. The recent rain has been filling up the pond and we will soon sort out the edging to hide the liner. I went ahead and bought my first pond plants; I have a water hawthorn which is already flowering, 2 tiny fringed water lilies, some pond weed, Marestail, Water Forget-me-not, Marsh Marigold, Dwarf Spearwort, Great Spearwort, Brookline, Upright Water Milfoil, Marsh Pennywort and some Ragged Robin for the edge.
Third photo is of two tiny pink Pulmonaria flowers surviving after the badger has been trampling the flower bed.
Photo four goes to the Forget-me-nots which are just starting to flower.
I spotted this ladybird on the Rock Roses – hopefully she’s found some tasty aphids.
Final photo goes to a tiny Violet, I do love these quite unassuming flowers.

This is the last weekend of March and in the UK we move our clicks forward an hour on Sunday morning.
This week we have had rain, sun, wind and mild temperatures in Hampshire, so the flowers are blooming well.
Photo one is of this lemon coloured Hyacinth, it has a very short stem and only just peaks out from the leaves.
Picture two is of the first of the Muscari with their tiny blue flowers, each one reminds me of a lace edged capped sleeve of a dress. Hopefully I will have some other coloured ones too, if the squirrels have left me any.
Photo three is of this lovely clump of Primroses.
Pinks and purples now. First this pink Hyacinth. Followed by the pink flowers on the flowering currant bush and finally some purple and mauve Violas. A bargain pack from Aldi at £1.89 for 10 plug plants.

After missing last Saturday (snowy weather that pressed pause in my garden) we are back with more of a seasonal selection of flowers.
Looking around this week, the daffodils are making up for lost time and the recent rains have spruced the ground up making everything look a lot healthier.
The first photo is of ‘new to this garden,’ Tête á Tête. I have been waiting patiently for them to appear and then these popped up when I wasn’t looking!
Second photo goes to this lovely purple Hellebore. Of course all the flowers are facing down and impossible to photograph without a little handy help!
Third photo is one of several emerging Hyacinths.
Fourth photo is of some mauve Polyanthus, I always think that these are from a cross breed of Primroses and Polyanthus as they all grow together, but I’m not sure.
Fifth photo is of the more common Daffodil. Mine are quite late this year, compared to other gardens.
Sixth picture goes to the Camellia which is now full of blooms.

Cooling temperatures and foggy days end my week as we step into December. It is harder to find six items of interest, but I am amazed with what I found for you. My garden makes me smile!
In other news, I’ve been joining in with #AWeekInFlowers blogging meme from Cathy of Words And Herbs. Each day up to and including December 6th we are posting one or two photos of flowers from our year of gardening to brighten the blogosphere. There are still a few days left if you want to join in.
First photo goes to my cheery garden helper who is always ready with a song while I work in the garden.
Second photo is of the first Primula spotted flowering this season. Although It looks like I’m not the first to spot it. The petals have had a dinner date with the some of my garden creatures.Or maybe leaf cutter bees? I’m not too sure.
Third photo goes to this spider’s web on the ceanothus which showed up in the fog with water droplets hanging in it.
Fourth photo is of some of the red berries from the Lily Of The Valley plants. I must keep my eye on them as they are quietly spreading each year in their patch.
Fifth photo goes to the pretty leaves of the Blueberry seedlings that I am growing. Now to keep them alive over winter and thriving next year.
Lastly this Calendula is brightening up the patio pots with a single flower. Long may it last!

I am joining in with A Week In Flowers blogging challenge brought to you from Cathy at Words And Herbs. I recently enjoyed taking part in the #AlphabettyBlooms challenge over on Twitter and what better way than to keep the lovely colours of summer going with this new challenge.
From now until December 6th, post one or two pictures of flowers to brighten up the winter days for those of us living in the northern hemisphere. Then drop your blog link into Cathy.
My choice of flower for day two is the Tulip. Last Spring when these beauties flowered they surprised me as I’m sure that I didn’t plant them, nor do I remember them from other years. We inherited a lovely selection of garden plants when we moved in almost four years ago, so perhaps growing conditions last year just suited them.
Another week goes by and still the garden surprises me with flowers to raise a smile.
We are crossing over from late Autumn to early Winter. The leaves are covering the lawn and need raking, but it is a thankless job. Some leaves I’m saving for compost, but I don’t want all the Sycamore and Ivy seeds and berries, so some of the leaf piles are going into the green recycling.
First photo goes to the Winter Jasmine. I hope that the neighbour’s building work doesn’t destroy the plant’s root system near the shared fence-line.
Second photo goes to my last Cosmos, it looks much healthier than others that I’ve shown you. Perhaps it won’t be the last!
The third photo is of some Stock seedlings which are over-wintering in the greenhouse. The seeds came on the front of a gardening magazine and I have sown some during the Autumn and I will sow the rest in Spring.
My fourth photo is of the Fuchsia which is still flowering and brightening up the boarder.
My fifth photo goes to the very last Sweetpea flower. The plant has been blown over in recent winds, but the flower has valiantly carried on.
My final photo is to the Mahonia which is putting on a great show and is attracting the bees that are still around.
