This month you have the chance to win an e-copy of “Family Ties” by E.L. Lindley.

Family Ties 290712

Beth Spencer’s world is torn apart when her mother dies, leaving her with no idea of who her family really is. Going through her mother’s possessions Beth finds a trail that leads her from her comfortable life, as a successful artist in Edinburgh; to a father she has never met in LA. As her father’s family welcome her into their life, Beth’s world is complicated even further by her feelings for her father’s stepson. Cal Anderson offers Beth the chance of a new life but can she find the courage to let go of her old one? Family Ties is a novel about finding the courage to live the life that you’ve always hoped for.

October Competition

During the month of October I shall be running a competition to win a third Kindle Cover from Joules.com

Using an original hand-drawn floral design from Joules, it is a very tactile soft faux-leather. Inside is a dark blue and white striped design with a blue side pocket. There are 4 pink elastic corners to hold down your kindle and the clasp is magnetic. Suitable for Kindle 4, Kindle Touch, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G.

I tried my own kindle for size to make sure it felt secure and that all the parts were easily accessible, I was impressed with the colours and believe it would appeal to the female Kindle owner. I loved the feel of the cover and found myself stroking it! Here are my own photos of the product.

Good Deeds week 4th – 10th August

Continuing my challenge to do a Good Deed every day for a year, I began back in April when I started to read “A Year of Doing Good” by Judith O’Reilly. This is a weekly update on my own progress and you can catch up with previous weeks from the link on my Home page. I have already inspired others to take up the baton and run with the challenge too, which is really exciting.

Good deeds4th August – Decided on a BIG re-vamp of my guest author posts today, where by I make them individual and specific to the book that an author has written. Have spent several hours writing out guest author questions and sending them out to authors. Let’s hope they want to get involved and send me back their replies! Some brilliant friends have helped me get some new profile pictures, have you spotted them?

5th August – Took the children to visit their grandparents and we all spent some family time catching up, although we took goodies with us Mum came back with lots of fresh vegetables for us to bring home. Had a mad plan to launch a Trans Atlantic author blog thingy for September, contacted a friend who agreed to join the madness.

6th August – A work morning today. They are planning to overhaul the farm Granary where our office is, they started cleaning out the loft today and lots of muck and dust began falling on the computer, so before I left I covered up the electrics as best I could. Drafting guest author posts for you as the replies come in, look out for the new version of posts. Am very excited Judith O’Reilly agreed to do a guest author post for us in September, Yay!

7th August – Have signed up to follow Project Light of Life , a bucket list blog exploring happiness, growth and the world. If you live in the US enter the fab competition to win some books on the site. Do read Christine’s bucket list of kind acts and volunteering, it is truly inspiring. Have a child visiting today, so am off to the park for some more cricket! (Gotta wear them out!)

8th August – My blog is 1 year old today! Thank you to everyone who has signed up and supports my posts. I’ve had a real blast and I love my blog. Launched our Romancing September blog tour across the world, looking for romance authors who want to promote their work during September. http://wp.me/p2Eu3u-2nq. Lent a friend a book.

9th August – Filled in a on-line survey, used the staff members details who served me so they get a pat on the back. Am extremely busy liaising all the authors who are signing up for Romancing September the World Blog Tour.

10th August – Been down to the cricket club for the annual awards morning for the junior members, took a bottle of wine for my son’s team coach who does the job unpaid in his own time. Having my mother-in-law over for tea this afternoon. Sent out a load of thank you e-mails to people who have been doing a grand job for me recently.

Good Deeds week 28th July – 3rd August

Welcome to my weekly updates on my challenge to do at least one Good Deed a day for a year. This has been inspired by Judith O’Reilly and her book “A Year of Doing Good”

A Year of Doing Good: One Woman, One New Year's Resolution, 365 Good Deeds. by Judith O'Reilly

See the book here on Amazon

28th July – Have been doing some work over the weekend so that we are ahead as we go into the working week. Dropped the work off this afternoon and cleared the desk ready for my colleague who works on Mondays.

29th July – Agreed to do another book review today for an author. Launched my competition to win a Kindle Cover from Joules Clothing, it’s not a massive prize like a car or a holiday, but it’s a start.

30th July – Posted a Guest Author post for Charles Yallowitz here on the blog in preparation for his new book launch tomorrow. Drafted up another post for Briana Vedsted who is also doing a book launch tomorrow.

31th July – It’s book launch day for the two authors mentioned above, so I’ve sent out my posts. Finished 2 books today and will be sorting out reviews.

1st August – Sent birthday wishes to one of my book reviewers. Had a child over to play for the day, took us all out to the park for some cricket, then dropped the child home again. The August Issue of Fleet Life goes online today, check out my book reviews for some lucky authors on page 18. www.fleetlife.org.uk, click on the online directory and go to p.18

2nd August – Shopping for birthday presents today, then out to tea with friends, taking homemade cookies with us. Also gave out some of my rice and pasta winnings.

3rd August – Came down with a stiff shoulder last evening, spent hours trying to get comfy during the night. Lack of sleep makes me a grumpy bear! Had an early appointment at the hair dressers, but still made sure I left the girls a tip. (Tipping is a hardship for some Brits!) Spent a couple of hours reading, could really do with a nap!

23rd July – Yay! School is finally out for my son for the next 6 weeks. Lie-ins what Bliss! (this means I can stay up later at night reading my books!) Bought a book from a Charity shop today. Busy planning a competition that I’m hoping to run on the blog with a book related prize. Got my paper copy of the August Issue of Fleet Life with my latest book reviews. The following authors have their books reviewed this month; LDC Fitzgerald – Saving Jackie K, Charity Norman – After the Fall, Melissa LeGette – The Unicorn Girl, GP Ching – The Soulkeepers and Savannah Grace – Sihpromatum – I Grew my Boobs in China.

24th July – Just been checking out a prize for a competition that I’m going to run for my UK readers soon. Baked cookies to take with me to my friend who invited me to dinner.

25th July – We had a wonderful lazy day and didn’t go anywhere. I took on board another book to review for an author who contacted me and I set up my draft for my competition which is going to start on Monday, here on the blog.

26th July – Sent off a birthday card for a friend whom I’ve not seen for many years but she is not forgotten. Posted a book review from my second teenage book reviewer who is another keen reader.

27th July – Off to the lovely Cotswolds today to visit my husbands Aunt. So I’m taking her flowers and goodies etc. Got a busy start planned for next week with my competition launch on Monday, a guest author Tuesday, 2 book launches for authors on Wednesday and the August online Issue of Fleet Life out on Thursday. Phew!

Have my Good Deeds touched your hearts and you heads yet? Are you aware of the Good deeds that you do for others in your daily life? What good deeds have others done for you? Let me know in the comments below.

A Year of Doing Good by Judith O’Reilly

Mumsnet are giving you the chance to win a copy of this book in their book giveaways, open for 24 hours from 10am this morning.

A Year of Doing Good is about one Womans Challenge to do One Good Deed Everyday for an entire Year. It sounds like a brilliant read, I’m going to try to win a copy.

The Interpretation of Murder (Freud, #1)The Interpretation of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

This book really wasn’t for me, far too long-winded. I got bored reading it and couldn’t wait to finish. Lots of historical data, but it just didn’t reach out to me.
