#RomancingSeptember Day 20 Love Always by @SonyaLoveday & @CandaceKnoebel

Welcome to Day 20 of #RomancingSeptember

2015 cover

Our guests today are writing duo Sonya Loveday and Candace Knoebel and their book Love Always.

Love Always

Where is your home town?

Sonya Loveday lives in St. Cloud, Florida and Candace Knoebel lives in Davenport, Florida – both located in Central Florida where it’s practically summer all year long. Both wish for cooler climates and are known to seek the solace of their air conditioners and an icy cold beverage.

How long have you been writing romance?

Love Always, is Candace Knoebel’s first dip into the contemporary romance pool, as where I’ve been writing in the romance genre for a little over a year now.

What is your favourite sub-genre of romance?

Candace is known to lean towards coming of age. Angsty and edgy books lure her in more than anything. Throw in a good plot line and you have her on the edge of her seat. To date, that I can remember the most vividly, one of her ‘could not put it down’ moments was the last book of the Divergent series, Insurgent. That one took her days to get over. Not quite romance, but the fallout of her emotions was what authors can only hope to inspire! Plus…who doesn’t lurve Four?!?!

I’d have to say coming of age stories/new adult/rom-com would have to be some of my favorites. But I do love a good historical romance too…Outlander. Need I say more?

Where is your book set?

Love Always, starts out in The Hamptons, New York and then changes as the story moves forward, taking you along both Maggie and Phillip’s journey throughout the book. You’ll see New York, California and then you’ll see ports of call in the Bahamas.

Introduce us to the characters.

Phillip Andrews Warrington is your not-so-typical son of a business mogul. All of Phillip’s life he’s been groomed to step up into the business world by his influential father and interfering mother. Never having a say in what he wants, Phillip’s world gets spun on its axis when he meets Maggie. It’s then that he realizes there’s so much more to life than what he’s been raised to believe.

Magdeline Rosalie Fairchild, know as Maggie, is a modern day gypsy sailing through life as only a spirted fun-loving child of the water can. With a kind heart and a gentle soul, Maggie sees life as an adventure worth putting everything she has into it. She lives fully, loves deeply, and never backs down from what she wants.

How are their backgrounds different?

You take the girl who grew up simple and encouraged, and the boy who grew up lavishly and was repressed, and you have your in-a-nutshell differences. Each has something the other can teach them. Each has a different way of looking at life. Maggie was raised in a small fishing town and, after her mother died, the neighbours stepped in to help her father out. Phillip was raised by various nannies who weren’t allowed to be too much fun. He was bred to be responsible, giving, and pliant.

What was the best bit about writing a book together?

I would say the entire novel. We literally had talked about writing one together for years, but one night at Sonya’s kitchen table, we decided now was the time. We’re so in tune to each other that writing was a piece of cake. We’d write a chapter, send it back to the other, and then wait for them to write theirs and send it back. It took, overall, a little less than two months. Plus, who wouldn’t want to work side-by-side with their best friend?

What were the hardships of co-writing a book?

If I had to pick one (because there really weren’t any) I’d have to say just finding patience to wait for the next chapter to be written by the other, only because we each didn’t always discuss what would happen next, so it’s like waiting for all the other kids to wake up on Christmas morning so you can finally open your presents. 🙂

Tell us what you are working on at the moment.

I’m working on Everdeep (Night Watchmen, #4), and Sonya is working on an untitled project which will be the fourth in the Six Series. In between that, we’re trying to promote Love Always, and we’re getting ready for our edits to come back. So… it’s a full plate.

Where can readers find out more about you?

Reflections on the April 2014 A-Z Tour

The 2014 April A to Z Challenge, had over 2000 bloggers taking part this year it was an awesome tour to get involved in. If you’ve not heard about it, nip over to the April AtoZ Challenge website after you’ve read this post.

Firstly I want to thank Arlee Bird for continuing to organise the annual tour. Secondly A REALLY BIG THANK-YOU to all the authors who let me use their books for my challenge, without you and all your support sharing the posts it just wouldn’t be the same.

So how has it all gone? For me it’s all about planning. I began my journey at the end of January, I knew it would takes weeks to gather all the authors and the information I would need for the tour. I contacted friends and fellow authors and I sent out Tweets about my tour offering FREE advertising of work for authors. I even ended up stalking authors and inviting them to take part.

So what did we all get from the tour? Well hopefully readers were introduced to new books and new authors, TBR piles are now groaning under the weight of all the books on readers bookshelves. I’m hoping that the authors got some new sales and I, made some new blogging friends and supporters. At the bottom of this post I’ve highlighted bloggers that I’ve been particularly impressed by with their own tour. If you’ve not visited their blogs yet do take a moment if you can. I’ve been all over the world visiting bloggers taking part in the challenge. Each day I made a point of promoting up to 5 bloggers from the sign up sheet, some days I found they were no longer able to do the challenge, but people seemed to have had great fun. There really are some amazing bloggers out there.

On April 16th, this day in the tour also coincided with the end of a year long challenge which began this time last year. During last years challenge I set about reading a book called “A Year of Doing Good” by Judith O’Reilly. This wonderful lady spent a whole year doing good deeds. I decided to try it for myself. An enormous challenge I began with tiny steps, if I could make it to the end of April, then I would carry on. My deeds may not have been as great as Judith’s but I have made it, I’ve collected my small change, donated money, given books and clothes to charity, I volunteer at a local school, I pick up litter, bake cakes, send gifts and thank-you notes and letters to friends plus I’ve done a whole host of other deeds. AND I’m going to do it all again! YES I’ve decided to carry on, you can follow my challenge on Sunday’s when I blog about my latest weeks.

My own April A-Z tour was set around the theme of books, here are a list of books and authors who featured on this tour.

Top posts during the tour which had everyone talking were letter B – Boot Camp Bride by Lizzie Lamb, letter G – The Georgie Connelly series by E.L.Lindley, letter N – Nobody’s Fault by Terry Tyler and letter T The 20’s Girl, the Ghost and All That Jazz by June Kearns.

Good Deeds Week March 30th – April 5th

Welcome to my weekly roundup of my year long challenge to do one Good deed a day for a year. This challenge began back in April 2013 and is still going strong, I’m now entering my final few weeks. My inspiration came from reading “A Year of Doing Good” by Judith O’Reilly. Here is what I’ve been up to this week.

Good deeds

March 30th – Last night we changed our clocks in line with British Summertime, so I’m a bit late this morning. It’s also Mother’s Day, so I’ve been giving and receiving gifts as all Mothers should.

March 31st – A really busy day today. I’ve just done my morning at school. Now the April Issue of Fleet Life has just dropped through my door, so I’ve written a draft ready to coincide with the online version. http://www.fleetlife.org.uk click on the online directory and fins me on page 18. This months books are;

Please Call Me Derek by Mac Black

The Medea Complex by Rachel Florence Roberts

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

Calculated by R.S. Novelle

Spirit Warriors by D.E.L Connor

It’s also my first month writing book reviews for Fleet Life’s sister magazine The Elvetham Heath Directory. http://www.ehd.org.uk, again click on the online directory and find me on page. This months featured books are different to Fleet Life although I will mix and match on occasions.

The Dating Game by Susan Buchanan

Greening of a Heart by Stepheny Houghtlin

Red Clay and Roses by S.K. Nicholls

The Griffin’s Boy by Julia Hughes

The Black Hours by Alison Williams.

With my A to Z Challenge starting tomorrow too, I’m sending out reminders to authors whose books are featuring in the first week. I want it to be a good give and take, I promote their books and they promote me.

April 1st – It’s here the first Day of the April A to Z blogging challenge with well over 1900 bloggers signed up this year it’s going to be huge. I’ve been all over the place visiting blogs and writing comments. My own challenge started with A World Apart by Camelia Miron Skiba. Catch up with posts in my Challenge round-up post, or from the A to Z page at the top of this blog.  The sun has finally burnt off the morning fog so now I’m off out in to the garden for a bit of one on one with nature after all my computing.

April 2nd – Online versions of both local magazines made it up on the internet today, so posted my pieces about them and let all the authors know. Having an absolute blast with the A to Z challenge, I can’t believe how many people are coming to my blog it is fantastic. Today’s book was Boot Camp Bride by Lizzie Lamb, Lizzie helped promote the post with her Facebook group of friends which I really appreciated. My slideshow on the sidebar is getting plenty of attention and good comments which is great to hear, have been helping a couple of people out with setting up their own gallery.

April 3rd – Met a friend for coffee in town and caught up with all her news. Went out this evening with more friends and took a birthday present with me for one of them whose birthday is in the next few days. Today’s book on the A to Z Challenge was Coronado’s Treasure by Randy Mixter. I’m thrilled to see lots of re-tweeting going on from other authors who will be taking part in my challenge and from followers of my blog, thanks everyone it means a lot.

April 4th – It’s a Derek Day today on the A to Z with Derek’s Revenge by Mac Black and a plug for the whole series. Went to the local market this morning, met a friend who has offered to pick us up in a few weeks time to attend a party. My Good deeds are mainly internet bound this week, visiting lots of blogs and leaving comments, tweeting and sharing posts. Finished reading Chill Factor by Rachel Caine and left a review on Goodreads.

April 5th – Everlasting by Candace Knoebel is the book for letter E in the A to Z today. Went for a quick walk this afternoon and picked up some litter. Am reading the second book in the Wardstone Chronicles, The Spook’s Curse, by Joseph Delaney, finished it late last evening and posted my review on Goodreads.

Letter E on the A to Z April Challenge

Today is letter E on the A to Z Challenge. Today my book is, Everlasting (Night Watchmen, #1) by Candace Knoebel. Genre: Romance

What if your destiny lay on the other side of death? The annual Culling ceremony is a day every coming-of-age novice looks forward to within the Primeval Coven. It’s the start to being initiated into the Night Watchmen, humankind’s protectors, and it’s the long-awaited day when novices discover if they’re a Hunter or a Witch. But this day is not a happy one for Faye Middleton. Not when she’s known her whole life that she’s a Defect and is about to face banishment in front of her fellow novices. She’s forced to attend the Culling with little hope for her future, but what she discovers about herself is far worse than she could’ve imagined. And far more dangerous. Thrown into training and separated from her friends, Faye must learn to adjust. She struggles to find her place within the Coven, and with Jaxen Gramm, the darkly handsome and extremely unnerving man assigned to watch and protect her. Emotions run high, and when she discovers a deadly secret about him, her struggles deepen. As corruption within the Coven begins to unravel, Faye pieces together her role in saving the future of her people, and within Jaxen’s life…but will the truth save her, or be her undoing?

My 2014 Blogging Plans to continue supporting authors

Happy New Year

A New Year and plenty of New Opportunities for 2014. This is going to be the Year of the Indie author, with more and more people taking the plunge and putting their words and thoughts to paper or e-book. Check out Kristen Lamb’s 2014 predictions for writers I’m planning on supporting those people as well as all the millions of authors already out there as best I can. In 2013 I read and reviewed a staggering 154 books on the Goodreads reading Challenge and I shall continue to enrol again this year. What makes it great is if I am reading and reviewing a book that I’ve been asked to by a fellow author, if it helps them get exposure for their work, then I’m all for it. If you have a book or are planning on publishing one this year I urge you to open a free Goodreads account now and get networking. Read other people’s books in your chosen genre and see what makes a good book, what works and what needs more work.

So if you have a book that you’d like me to read and review, please do contact me via the link which you’ll find along the top of the blog.

This year I’m going to take part in the A to Z Challenge again in April. This is a fantastic challenge and gets some brilliant exposure for any bloggers. This year I want to make my theme be dominated by the Indie Author, so this is a heads up. For 26 days (we get Sundays off) in April I will blog each day using the letters of the Alphabet (A-Z) to promote books, using the book titles. For instance last year I used the following books “A” A Love Never Lost by Stephanie Hurt, “E” Embracing The Flames by Candace Knoebel and “Y” You Wish by Terry Tyler. So you get the idea, for more challenging letters like “Q, U and X” I’ll allow a little poetic licence as long as we can work the letter in somehow. AUTHORS CAN CONTACT ME FROM NOW ON AND PLACES WILL FILL UP QUICKLY, so start the year positively with this gift to promote your work.

My Year of Doing Good, continues into April because I started the challenge back in the spring. Author Judith O’Reilly will be joining me on the blog on Sunday 5th January. She is the inspiration behind my own challenge from her book “A Year of Doing Good” I was thrilled when other bloggers took up the challenge too and I’ve made some great new friends along the way. There are some very special people out there all making the world a better place to live in.Good deedsLast year saw the start of my “Rosie’s Good Read” page in my local magazine “Fleet Life“. It produces 5000 paperback copies which go out to households around Fleet, and it has an online version accessible from across the world. With its own Twitter and Facebook pages too, the potential to reach new readers of both the magazine and my book review page is enormous. Each month I review 5 books of my choice and I’ve really enjoyed seeing my work in print each month. With 12 months under my belt, I’m raring to go with my next draft of book reviews. The January issue is out in paperback and the online version should be out by 5th January. www.fleetlife.org.uk click on the online directory and scroll through the magazine each month. Here is a copy of my January page http://wp.me/p2Eu3u-4mz

Jan 14 Fleet Life

Back in September I joined with fellow Indie Author Stephanie Hurt and we launched our Romancing September Across the World Tour. Each day we celebrated romance books in two destinations across the world. I opened the day here in England with an author interview about the author and their work, then when the sun rose in beautiful Georgia USA, Stephanie posted a piece discussing with each author the challenge of writing romance in today’s society. Each author got plugs for their work and themselves. It was a lot of work, but produced some fantastic feedback from readers. It’s definitely something I will be considering doing this year, possibly with a different genre. If anyone has a genre they would like me to consider or who would like to work with me on a similar tour please contact me.
