My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Maktub: It Is Written is the sequel to I Listened To My Heart, the story of Rose O’Connell. Rose set out to follow her heart and find her soulmate, she talks to her Angels, watches the universe for their advice and reads the Tarot. She is a strong believer in psychic mediums and has many friends who follow spirituality.

In the first book Rose went to London, found and lost her twin-soulmate, wrote a song about it, wrote her book and made a good life for herself, finally finding another soul to love.

In this book, Rose begins with her interview on the Ellen DeGeneres TV show, then we go back in time for her to share with us, what’s gone on in her life since the end of book one. Psychic Leanne Rees had predicted that at the age of 50 Rose would write a book and have to make a choice between her twin-soulmate and a soulmate. Rose knows who these two men are and has a tough time making her choice. In the end one makes it for her and she sets out with the other to a new life in Boston with its own set of challenges and successes.

These books are fun and uplifting written in a chatty style. If you enjoy books about Angels, fate and the universe mixed with a good dose of women’s fiction, then this series might be for you.

About the author

Rosemary Louise Gallagher

I was born in Melbourne, Australia and aside from my many wonderful travels, I spent most of my life there, until moving to London in 2000. I was at a turning point and felt like I needed a change of lifestyle. I took advantage of my Irish passport and bravely packed up my happy life down under to see what the other side of the world was offering.  That was nearly 14  years ago and I haven’t looked back!

For most of my professional career I have work as a Receptionist which was a role I enjoyed immensely, although I’ve now left the corporate world to concentrate on my creative and spiritual endeavours. Another decision I haven’t regretted. I’ve always held a strong interest in the metaphysical, especially the tarot cards and the angelic realm.  After settling into my new life in London I began formal tarot studies at the Psychic College of London. I have been reading the tarot professionally ever since.

My creative development started late in my life – but better late than never. I now enjoy spending my days at home writing and doing readings. In addition, I also started writing song lyrics. I’ve written over 40 songs so far and I’ve had many of them recorded to music. I’d be happy to have you listen to them at my songs page. I am very excited that a few of my songs have already received high acknowledgement in various song writing competitions world-wide and also a few of them are under consideration for selection by top country music artist.  I am  hoping one day to write a #1 hit and maybe even win a Grammy!  Oh yes, I’m a dreamer all right… but a girl has got to have dreams. I mean, if you don’t….how can they come true!

ONE WAY FARE BY @barbtaub #Bookreview #UrbanFantasy #SundayBlogShare

One Way Fare (Null City, #1)One Way Fare by Barb Taub
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One Way Fare is an Urban Fantasy story and I really didn’t know what to expect from just the book cover and even the book description, but it blew me away. I really, really enjoyed it. There are delightful sharp witted characters and a storyline with echoes of “Back To The Future” but with so much more depth, twists and it’s own agenda.

The tale involves a war between the Fallen and Angels, humans and a fourth group who hold powers. There is Null City and a marvellous Metro train which takes passengers back and forth through time. The ticket machine was brilliant it kept reminding me of the “Zoltar speaks” fortune telling machine in the film Big.

In 1972 Gaby Parker works for Accounts-On-Demand in Seattle, she has been requested to help sort out the accounts for Luic Le Muir, a top musician. Gaby has a gift where she can see patterns in numbers, it makes her OCD but she soon believes she has found a route to Luic’s draining financial resources, but he’s not going to like her answers.

In 2012 Leila heads to Provence, France, having just been gifted jewels and a Chateau from her birth mother’s family. She’s met by Thomas Chapel who reveals he must guard Leila from the locals who soon turn nasty. Just when it’s needed the local fountain shows a Metro sign and they descend to a magical platform and safety, alighting on the train which arrives calling itself the 1890 Metro.

Thomas has told her about Nephilium, mixes of Angel and human off-spring and they have a choice about their future when the train stops outside Null City. They can stay in Null City, but they will forget all their non-human life details, or they can travel on further and take their places in a prophecy to help save Null City and stop the war.

This was fun, Gaby and Leila will both have to meet to take their parts in the prophecy, so there are scenes in various time lines and the Metro train is useful transport. There are complexities and twists which kept me on my toes, but I was eager to keep the pages turning and urged the characters onwards. Fabulous read, I think I might just have to read the second book in the series.

NO REST FOR THE WICKED by @DaneCobain #Thriller #TuesdayBookBlog @BookTrope

No Rest for the WickedNo Rest for the Wicked by Dane Cobain
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

No Rest For The Wicked is a short read at just 127 pages. A mystery / thriller this book pulls together religion and science.

With chapters jumping back and forth between 1962, 2008 and 2009 the book first introduces the reader to Angels acting as judges purging the Universe of unworthy life-forms. Fear spreads the world and many turn to religion for support, but everyone is guessing as to where these Angels come from.

At the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, an experiment began in 2008 searching for the Higgs Boson particle, believed to hold the answers as to how the universe was created. With black holes and particles drawn to and from them, it takes a priest called Montgomery to put across a theory about the Angels. A secret meeting with one of the top people at CERN confirms the existence of DAEMONS – Dark electrical matter objects.

As the Angels draw closer their strength coming from the people’s fears, what scientific humans had a hand in creating a religious human has a hand in destroying.

This book draws to mind a mix of Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons, and The Exorcist, for me the part played by the child Angelica Andrew’s didn’t quite fit with the rest of the Angels’ methods. However readers who enjoy a quick thriller style story, should enjoy this book.

Angelic Business 1 Pink Matters by Olga Miret @OlgaNM7

Angelic Business 1. Pink MattersAngelic Business 1. Pink Matters by Olga Núñez Miret
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Angelic Business 1 Pink Matters is book #1 in this #YA series involving Angels and Demons. Petra is an ordinary teenager who prefers to be called Pink, she’s not part of the “in” crowd and someone most boys tend to see past. She’d like to mean more to her friend Seth, but he insults her by offering to be a sympathetic date should she ever need one.

Together with her best friends Sylvia and Lorna, Pink hatches a plan to make Seth jealous and it’s more than a coincidence when new boy G turns up at school and refuses to be interested in any of the popular crowd.

Pink can’t quite believe that G has only eyes for her and she’s very doubtful about his intensions. It takes a lot of persuading for Pink to accept his word and even then the goal posts keep moving and she is left angry and confused.

At times the storyline is slowed with repetition of events and conversations. The tale will continue in the next book.

Angels (a metaphysical horror story)

Angels by B A Spicer

This gripped me right from the beginning and I read the whole story in one sitting – very unusual for me however much I love a book because my life is horrendously busy! But I was so drawn in that I had to read on.

This story sensitively and yet honestly portrays the lengths mothers will go to for their children and the emotional depth there is behind a mother/daughter relationship. I won’t say too much for fear of spoiling the story, but as a mother it spoke to me, and I identified so closely with the main characters that it was actually quite unsettling.

And that goes to show what a talented writer B A Spicer is. The writing is beautifully crafted, the characters really well drawn for such a short piece. I do think this story has real potential to be developed into something much longer.

4 out of 5 stars.

“I found out about this free eBook via Rosie’s Book Review Team, and decided to give it a go.

To be honest, even though it was well written, it was too short for me. I also found the subject matter really sad, but like the way it linked to another story.
However, the message was a good one. Death can seem like a solution, but it rarely is. Life is hard and unfair at times, but it is worth fighting for. Saying this, I can’t imagine how I would feel if I lost my child. Bullies are the worst!
Overall, a very quick read that gives you a taster for this authors style of writing.”

I Listened To My HeartI Listened To My Heart by Rosemary Louise Gallagher

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can’t wait to write this review, all though the reading of the book I’ve had lots of little bodily shivers, I’m not ill! I have just loved the book from start to finish, I love a book that has anything to do with the spirit world and add in Angels and it’s a real delight.

Rose O’Carroll lives in Australia, she comes form a large family. We meet her just before her fortieth birthday when she decides she’s going to spread her wings and move to London. Rose believes in Angels, Spirit Guides and Guardian Angels. She’s always spoken to her Angels and firmly believes that everything happens for a reason.

The book is narrated by Rose in a chatty format which made me feel like one of her girlfriends, I was there with her through all the trauma and the love. This book is about faith, love and friendship. Rose has yet to be seriously in love and over the next ten years of her life we are taken on a spiritual roller-coaster as Rose finds her twin soul and her soul mate. She pushes her own boundaries of self discovery and becomes a better person for it.

I can’t wait to read the next book. This book is for all those who believe in their Angels and those who love a good love story, a treat any day and definitely one for Valentine’s Day.

Cathy chose to read and review Falling: Angels Among Us The Complete Series by Linn B Halton

Book blurb
‘Ceri thinks she sees angels … everywhere. She struggles to keep separate what feels like two very different sides to her life. As a manager in an advertising company she’s been working with the gorgeous Alex for two years. The have a friendship based upon the image she portrays whilst she’s at work and it helps to keep her sane. One mad, crazy night spent sharing their secrets and a lot of wine result in them ending up in bed together and their relationship changes. When Alex explains that the reason he doesn’t date is because someone broke his heart, how can Ceri admit that she feels a deep connection to him?’

My review
Ceri is on a journey of self discovery and learning, of what her gift for helping people and sensing the presence of angels, mainly by intuition, really means. She knows she is different but she doesn’t realise her gift is her calling and she is destined to be alone. She and Alex are only meant to cross paths briefly, he to help her when she is in doubt, and then to both go their separate ways. Neither of them understand Ceri is not supposed to fall in love during this earthly existence…

Ceri’s task is to correct mistakes people make that may alter the course of their destined lives. It was easy to like and  empathise with her, and Alex, especially when I read the passages from his point of view. They both suffer dreadfully because they are not destined to be together. Ceri is compassionate, astute and very confused about her feelings for Alex. As she begins to learn who and what she is and awakens more and more to her psychic abilities, the spiritual and theological aspects are explored in-depth and are very interesting and fascinating. The story focuses quite heavily on this perspective as Ceri learns her true calling.

‘I have no idea exactly when I began seeing angels, but I can’t seem to remember a time when I couldn’t. It feels like it’s always been a part of my life. It’s as natural as breathing and, yes, there are times when I wish that wasn’t the case. I seriously doubt anyone would choose to get drawn into something they don’t really understand. Why would they?’

There is much development in Ceri and Alex’s relationship, as well as Ceri’s personal development, and as the two clash emotions run very high. Ceri must choose her path and either way, it’s not easy as she struggles with the powerful feelings between her and Alex. Should she heed what she now knows is her destiny, or choose to follow her heart?

Linn Halton’s writing style is fluid and easy to read, I was drawn in from the start. The story is filled with a multitude of emotions, highs and lows, and although the spiritual angle features throughout it’s not overwhelming and blends in well with the romance. There’s a lot to like and be drawn into in this book if you’re open to the otherworldly and metaphysical. I enjoyed exploring the premise there is more to this life than we think, and more beyond than is imaginable.

After initial misgivings (I’m not really into romantic fiction but this is more than a straight romance) I enjoyed reading this book a lot and give it a solid  four-star rating. The paranormal/spiritual aspect made it for me. Many thanks to J B Johnson at Brook Cottage Books for sending me an e-copy.

Angelic Wisdom Trilogy by Richard Holmes

Angelic Wisdom TrilogyAngelic Wisdom Trilogy by Richard Holmes

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An amazing book which looks at your spiritual path through an easy to read format. There are question and answer sections between the author and his guiding Angels, which is very informative and full of a mix of easy to understand and more complex theories. Richard is a medium and on his own path of discovery. I liked the idea that if you are reading this book then you must have been drawn to it as part of your own life path. There were parts of the lessons from the books that made me feel a very young novice on my own life path. It gives answers and guides you to ask more questions about why you are here on earth and what you are trying to attain whilst here. Life certainly is all about what you make it.

Beyond Demons and Protectors (Beyond Heights and Depths Trilogy, Book 2)Beyond Demons and Protectors by Christian Brown

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ll dive right in and tell you that this is the second book in the series, however I didn’t feel I lost out by not reading the first, it might have been beneficial, but wasn’t necessary. I was able to relate to the characters and picture them easily. You could feel the passion between Ash and Em in the writing. From the title you’ll probably guess that there is a Good versus Evil theme and we have some young adults with super powers who must defeat The Darkness. The plot is believable and the fight scenes work well. Angels, Demons, protectors Elders and Heavenly beings all play a role in this storyline. There are some fantastic locations mixed with moral advice about living and loving the here and now. I thought the book was very well written and suitable for readers of YA and upwards.
