My Girl is book three of The Gambling Hearts series of Texas ranch-themed romances. Aaron Shaughnessy once had his heart broken by the girl he loved. Now she has come back to his family’s dude ranch, but she’s brought her fiancé with her.
Trish Sylvester was surprised when her family arranged a week’s holiday on the ranch, especially after her break-up with Aaron. Seeing him again stirs up all her hidden emotions and makes her question why she left him.
This is a pleasant easy read clean romance. A couple of times I would have enjoyed time spent building a few more layers around the main characters so that I could really empathise with them, but that is just my personal preference in this genre. I liked the author’s notes at the end of the book where she hoped that the setting would help raise awareness for the high number of traditional ranches which are suffering in the current economic climate, especially where fewer family members are following in their parents’ footsteps.

Sometimes, the right decision isn’t the easiest one to make
Trish Sylvester knows her family and when they accept a week long stay at a rustic dude ranch, she is concerned- especially since it’s at her ex’s home.
Aaron is overjoyed at the opening of his family’s guest ranch, until he learns their first guest is his ex-girlfriend, her parents–and a fiancé.
And that isn’t the only surprise.
