Reset: How To Restart Your Life And Get F.U. Money is an advice book, as the title suggests – David Sawyer’s early retirement plan for mid-life careerists. Based on his own experiences, Sawyer offers a mix of popular self-help strategies and his own financial advice schemes.
Having read quite a range of self-help books myself, I enjoyed the motivational buzz which I got from some of the themes. The financial element was a tougher read; it digs deeply into money management and some of it was hard to comprehend. With a Brexit deal looming and an unsettled political environment, I’ve no idea how the money markets will change and if the advice Sawyer offers in this book will still be relevant in a couple of years’ time, but on the other hand, perhaps financial advice can only ever be ‘of the moment’.
If you’re looking for a New Year kickstart, and want to make financial decisions for the future, then give this book a thoughtful read.

Are you happy? Is there more to life than this? What if there is another way?
What if that way doesn’t involve jacking in your job, leaving your partner, having a midlife crisis, uprooting your existence? What if that way just involves small actions, taken every day? With no more effort than you now spend tending your social media flock, superglued to a screen.
Best of all, what if that way costs you little? In fact, what if that way saves you a tonne of money and lets you retire a few years earlier?
