Welcome to the first day of this years #MysteryNovember book tour.
Hop aboard the mystery bus and enjoy the ride.
Our first guest is Mike Martin and his book The Walker On The Cape.
The Walker on the Cape
A man’s body is found in a small fishing community on the East Coast. First everyone thinks it’s a heart attack or stroke but then it’s discovered that he was poisoned. Who would do this and why? Finding that out falls to Winston Windflower and his side-kick Eddie Tizzard. Along the way they discover there are many more secrets hidden in this small community and powerful people who want to keep it that way.
Where is your home town?
I was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada and now live in Ottawa.
What do you like about writing in the mystery genre?
I think I like the readers most of all. They are kind, knowledgeable, and loyal. Like true friends should be.
What sub-genre of mystery does your book fit?
I have a police officer, Sgt. Winston Windflower of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, but The Walker on the Cape is much closer to a cozy or traditional mystery that anything else. I like to think that they it is just a nice story set in a small town, with a few dead bodies showing up from time to time.
Where is your book set?
The Walker on the Cape is set in the small community of Grand Bank, Newfoundland.
Can you introduce us to the main characters?
Sgt. Winston Windflower of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is the main character. He is a Cree Indian from Northern Alberta who finds himself stationed in the small fishing town of Grand Bank, Newfoundland, on the very eastern tip of Canada. He falls in love with the people and the community and the food. He also falls for Sheila Hiller, the local café owner. Other characters include his sidekick, Eddie Tizzard, his Scotch drinking Coroner friend, Dr. Sanjay, and a few notable villains.

Where can readers find your book?
Love your character names, Mike! Very best of luck with your book.
See you live in Ottawa – great city. I used to live in Montreal – scarily when Pierre Trudeau was PM, and now his son is about to take office! I am obviously ancient!

Mike,
Mention of the Canadian Mounted Police brought back some memories. My wife worked for the Canadian embassy when we lived in DC. The Mounties were the security for the embassy. One day they found a stray German Shepherd. My wife brought it home and we named him Mountie.
Good luck with your book.
