Avid Reader’s Thoughts
I really enjoyed this mystery and I found it keeps you on your toes right to the end.
“Alex and her husband are criminal lawyers, in practice together in London. Their work is putting a strain on their marriage; Alex feels Paul is all too willing to represent the guilty. Then Will Dearden, an old friend whom she hasn’t seen for twelve years, calls upon Alex for help. He still lives in Norfolk where they grew up together. His elegant wife, Grace, has disappeared and he thinks the police aren’t trying hard enough to find her.” Although – or maybe because – Alex once had a crush on Will, she comes to his aid and, in the depths of winter, revisits the lonely marshes that were the scene of their youth. The more she learns about Grace, the greater her admiration for Will. But what should she do when she discovers that he has a very good reason to have murdered his alluring, but not very lovable, missing wife?
