The Spook’s Curse by Joseph Delaney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The second book in the Wardstone series sees the continuation of Tom Ward’s apprenticeship as a County Spook. With only a few months training under his belt he must tackle the most dangerous type of Boggart, a Ripper alone, while the Spook lies on his bed ill.
Although the Boggart was bound, sadly it’s victim died and Tom and the Spook head to Priestown for the funeral. There’s more than one danger in the town for the Spook and while he tries to rid the town of the dangerous Bane that lives down in the catacombs, another stalks the Spook.
The Quistor hunts witches and sees the Spook as a Warlock who sides with the Devil. Capturing the Spook means a lot to the Quisitor and when a cousin lets him down the Spook finds himself heading for a trial which will only end in death by burning.
Tom must try to rescue his master and once again he finds himself working with young Alice, can she be trusted when her relatives are the famous Pendle Witches?
