Letter T on The A to Z April Challenge 2014

Today it’s letter T on the A to Z Challenge. My book is “The 20’s Girl, The Ghost and All That Jazz” by June Kearns. Genre: Romance

20s Girl Cover MEDIUM

Book Title: The 20’s Girl, the ghost, and all that jazz

Book Description:

1924. The English Shires after the Great War – all crumbling country houses and no men.

When her jazzing flapper of an aunt dies, Gerardina Mary Chiledexter inherits some silver-topped scent bottles, a wardrobe of love-affair clothes, and astonishingly, a half-share in a million-acre cattle ranch in south-west Texas.

Haunted by a psychic cat, and the ghost voice of her aunt, Gerry feels driven to go and see this for herself.

Against a backdrop of big sky, cattle barons and oil wells, she is soon engaged in a game of power, pride and attraction with the Texan who owns the other half.

  1. I love June’s books, they are wonderfully written and I know that a wealth of research lies behind them. She has a way of creating gorgeous, unpredictable heroes, too.

  2. This lovely, lovely book has fast become a favourite of mine. June writes beautifully, with a lightness of touch that speaks volumes about class and social mores of the time. There’s layers of depth beneath the layers of tulle! A must-read for this summer.

  3. I loved The 20’s Girl, it was a delight to read. I would certainly recommend this book highly to anyone who wants an unusual, historical read with a good mixture of glamour, romance, adventure, mystery and intrigue. I am very much hoping there will be a sequel 🙂

  4. I love a good book. This sounds interesting. I will check back for review in June. Thank you the shout out to my blog.

  5. I have the 20’s Girl to read on my kindle, June, and I can’t wait. What a brilliant title and cover. Great name for your heroine too. The whole sound of this book draws me in. I just know I’m in for a great read. Another fab post, Rosie. I do love this blog Xx

  6. Thank you for the shout-out–so appreciated. I’ll have to check out The 20s Girl soon. One of the best things about the A-Z Challenge for me is discovering so many new blogs and books. Thank goodness we can stop posting every day after next week–I need the extra time to start reading! Happy Challenging!

  7. Sorry I’m late as usual. Have to say got completely lost in the world of Gerardina Chiledexter and Texan rancher, Cooper, and was sorry when their story ended. Or was it a new beginning?

  8. I’m a little late June, but would just like to say how much I enjoyed not only this ‘Twenties’ novel (one of my favourite periods), but also your first one. Your ideas are always so fresh and original, and I’m definitely downloading your next one when it’s published.
